I suppose a lot of people would be also interested in a coffee plantation. Or I should say coffee plantations? Because there’s definitely more than one. I’m not a coffee lover so I will not cover the topic here. You can find plenty of information about it on the internet though so you’ll definitely find something interesting!
NUSA PENIDA
I personally would also jump to Nusa Penida for a day or a day and a half because it absolutely is a magical place. You can try to make it a day trip although I would stay at least for the night. I ended up there for a longer time but it was such a relaxing time.
If you decide you have enough time to spare, go for it because it’s so worth it. There’s also a possibility to book an island trip with a private car that takes you to different spots on the island.
The best way to get there is by getting on a speed boat from the Sanur Harbor. You can easily book your tickets via https://12go.com/en or http://rome2rio.com. These are the 2 websites I usually use. Heads up if you decide to explore Nusa Penida on your own: Google Maps will show you a main road but it will not necessarily be such.

Embark on an adventure to Kelingking Beach, affectionately known as the T-Rex. The towering cliffs mimic a prehistoric giant, creating a mesmerizing coastal landscape.

Also, keep in mind you’ll have to rent sarong (the traditional type of fabric) because there’s a temple downstairs.

It’s an ice cream parlor with the best ice cream you can imagine.
How to plan your itinerary
Ultimately it’s up to you what you want to visit and where you end up going. My favorite part of traveling is actually ending up in places I had never even thought of in the first place.
The first moment I’m somewhere I love to just go and explore the place without any map.
1. Define Your Interests:
Before diving into the planning process, identify your interests.
Are you drawn to cultural exploration, adventure activities, or serene beach retreats? Understanding your preferences will shape your itinerary.
2. Research Bali's Highlights:
Familiarize yourself with Bali’s must-visit attractions. From iconic temples to hidden gems, Bali offers a diverse range of experiences.
Researching the highlights ensures you don’t miss the wonders that align with your interests.
3. Balanced Daily Themes:
Distribute your daily activities for a balanced experience. Blend cultural immersion, adventure, and relaxation throughout the trip.
This ensures each day brings a unique flavor of Bali’s rich tapestry.
4. Consider Proximity:
Optimize your time by planning activities in close proximity. Grouping attractions by location minimizes travel time and maximizes your exploration.
5. Factor in Travel Time:
Bali’s traffic can be unpredictable. When planning your itinerary, factor in travel time between destinations to avoid rushed experiences. Allow room for spontaneity while keeping a realistic schedule.
6. Local Experiences:
Engage with local culture and traditions. Incorporate authentic experiences like traditional dance performances, local markets, or Balinese cuisine.
7. Sunrise and Sunset Gems:
Bali’s sunrises and sunsets are magical. Plan activities around these golden hours. You will witness the island’s landscapes bathed in breathtaking hues.
8. Accommodation Selection:
Choose accommodations strategically based on your itinerary. Consider staying in different areas to explore diverse facets of Bali, from vibrant towns to serene coastal retreats.
9. Stay Flexible:
While planning is key, allow room for spontaneity. Bali is full of surprises, and some of the best moments happen when you embrace the unexpected.
10. Checklist for a Seamless Trip:
Ensure a hassle-free adventure by creating a checklist:
- Travel Documents: Passport, visa (if required), and any necessary reservations.
- Health Precautions: Necessary vaccinations and any required medications.
- Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Bali’s climate can vary, so pack accordingly.
- Comfortable Footwear: Especially if your itinerary includes walking or hiking.
- Adapters and Chargers: Keep your devices powered up to capture those memorable moments.
- Local Currency: Have some cash for small purchases and areas where cards may not be accepted.
What to remember about
- Scooter will probably be your friend. It’s the easiest way to get around as it’s impossible to move around by walking.
- Grab is like Uber, you can also order a scooter ride! If you decide to go for this option you’ll be a passenger of a local driver. Imagine a private driver but make it a scooter one.
- The people are wonderful and very helpful. Even if you don’t know you need help, they will know and help you. And if you do – just ask!
- Make sure to choose places that are in a similar area to maximize your time. Choose the most important temples, beaches and/or other places. Things that have been on your bucket list.
- Consider the rainy season if you want to maximize your time. I personally don’t think that the rainy season would destroy your time. Bali is a great place to visit any time of the year but if you have very little time you probably can’t afford it – timewise.
- I’d suggest taking a raincoat with you! If you’re visiting during the rainy season, it’ll be very… wet to ride on a scooter. And cold.
- You might also consider booking a trip with a travel guide. Especially if you’d like to see the places in the northern part of the island.
- Consider the time of your arrival and departure. Take into account how you might feel after the travel – depending on the place you’re flying from. How long it’s going to take you from and to the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar. Just so you have an idea – the airport is around an hour drive from Ubud.
- Make sure to get your travel insurance. in case something happens, it’ll cover the costs of the medical emergencies. Obviously, we never expect them to happen. But they do sometimes and unfortunately, you don’t have much control over them.
- Make sure to have cash on you, you might not be able to pay by card in all places. If you want to exchange the money upon arrival and you have US dollars, make sure you have the new bills. They don’t want to accept the old ones. And if they do – they offer it at a lower rate.
- Make sure to bring proper clothes with you if you want to visit temples. If you don’t have them though, you might be able to buy or rent something. Some places might also ask for a small entrance fee.
- If you’re not good at organizing trips and prefer to just go after someone. You might want to consider buying a full day trip as this might be your best option to save time and nerves.

CONCLUSION
Bali was my childhood dream and even though I did find it overrated, it’s a place that calls a lot of people. And it’s totally worth it.
Is Bali my favorite place on Earth? No. It’s been Thailand so far but I will go back to Bali because there’s so much more for me to discover. If it’s going to be your first time in Bali, you’re going to love it. I personally had the worst two first days ever there but it was because small things and problems kept piling up ever since the arrival at the airport. After I went back to my mental state I did appreciate Bali very much.
I think it’s a very beautiful place. It’s especially rewarding seeing all of the famous temples and beautiful beaches after a long flight. If you’re lucky you might even come across some religious ceremonies taking place. Balinese people are wonderful and they have a rich culture. I think it’s enough of a good reason to visit Bali. If you’re still wondering, think of white sand beaches, stunning temple grounds, traditional dances, and rice paddies.
Get ready to have your unique experience and don’t spend too much time in your hotel room! Only to recharge your batteries! One of the places I still wish to visit is the Gili Islands, they’re one of the top points on my list to see in Bali.
There is a reason Bali is called the island of gods. Have you visited Bali? How’s your experience been?
